International Transportation Management Association
The future of our industry depends on the next generation of industry professionals. It is our goal to invest in their education and training. Helping to make this journey less financially burdensome is one of the ways ITMA and our membership has been making a difference since 1985.
Houston Electrical League
The Houston Electric League Scholarship Foundation (HELSF) is a non-profit organization that offers scholarships to children of HEL members attending universities or trade schools. They provide up to $60,000 annually in scholarships for junior and senior college students.
Additionally, HELSF sponsors a summer intern program, allowing eligible students to gain valuable work experience with HEL member companies.
Transportation Club of Houston
Each year the Transportation Club of Houston proudly offers scholarship awards to deserving students in transportation and related fields such as warehousing, supply chain logistics, and international business logistics.
Scholarship opportunities are available to qualified students in conjunction with a faculty member.
The Port of Houston Partners in Maritime Education
The Port of Houston Partners in Maritime Education (PHPME) foundation is designed to inform and educate Houston area high school and college students about career opportunities in the maritime industry.
Southwest Association of Rail Shippers
Each year, the Southwest Association of Rail Shippers (SWARS) provides scholarships to qualified applicants. Scholarships are administered at the sole discretion of SWARS and awards are conferred on a competitive basis. Funding is made available only for the scholastic year beginning in the fall semester following notification of a scholarship award.
Houston Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association
HCBFFA is committed to the future of our industry. Each University Scholarship award will offer as much as $5,000.00 per academic year. This scholarship will only be awarded to students attending a Texas University or College who are actively pursuing a degree in Logistics & Transportation or another Supply Chain related field.
Houston Transportation Professionals' Association
Each year, HTPA awards scholarships on a competitive submitted application basis to current undergraduate students and college-bound high school seniors.
Propeller Club of Houston
The scholarship program is intended to provide financial assistance to students who have demonstrated high levels of academic performance and leadership, and who intend to further their education in the maritime field.
Intermodal Association North America (IANA)
Since its inception in 2007, IANA has awarded over $5.9 million to support students in university programs focused on freight and intermodal transportation. The 14 undergraduate schools currently receiving scholarship awards are California State University at Long Beach, California State University Maritime Academy, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern University, Mississippi State University, NC A&T State University, SUNY Maritime College, University of Arkansas, University of Houston, University of Maryland, University of North Florida, University of North Texas, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and University of Wisconsin — Superior. The Transportation & Supply Chain Institute at the University of Denver (TSCI) is the only awardee supporting exclusively graduate degrees.
The Joanne F. Casey Scholarship Program, renamed as such in 2024 in honor of the organization's retiring chief executive and champion of the program, Joni Casey, seeks to progress the education of the intermodal freight transportation industry’s next generation of leaders and managers by providing students with opportunities to attend Intermodal EXPO, take study trips to intermodal facilities across the U.S., participate in academic case competitions, interact with transportation executives and conduct intermodal freight research.
The application process for University of Houston, Supply Chain & Logistics Technology Program, Undergraduate students has “three phases” which are coordinated directly with Margaret Kidd, Program Director, and Instructional Associate Professor. During 2025 cycle there is $ 12,500 available in direct tuition support, $ 5000 for student intermodal research projects, and $ 2500+ for student travel to IANA conference. Student applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of three courses/nine credit hours during spring 2025, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be graduating December 2025 or thereafter.
Phase 1 of the application process requires all interested undergraduate Supply Chain & Logistics Technology students to complete the Application Questionnaire below no later than 5 PM on the 31st December 2024. Program Director will review all Phase 1 applications and notify via email all students invited to move forward to Phase 2 of the application process prior to the 15th of January. During Phase 2 notified students will be provided a list of items needed for evaluation along with a deadline in later part of January 2025 for submittal of application packet. A committee of two full time faculty, two adjunct faculty and two industry advisory board members will review all packets. Note students not submitting complete answers to questionnaire and/or complete packet by deadline will not be considered for scholarship. Phase 3 of the application process will be a in person interview with the Program Director which will occur in February.
